JOIN WILD ONES, MOHAWK VALLEY CHAPTER FOR A WEBINAR ABOUT GARDENING FOR BATS IN NEW YORK
Celebrate Halloween early with the real star of the show: bats. Besides adding flair to a beloved holiday and our local wildlife, bats consume countless pest insects every single night. The Mohawk Valley chapter of Wild Ones is pleased to present Erin Cord of Bat Conservation International as she talks about our local bats, the threats they face, and how we can help them right in the comfort of our own backyards! This free webinar on Sunday, October 19th at 1:30 p.m. will include Q&A and a handout with tips and a plant list to help you design your own bat garden using native plants.
“Unfortunately, over 50% of our native bats are considered at-risk. These nocturnal neighbors need our help now more than ever,” said Erin Cord.
Erin is the Community Engagement Partnerships Manager for Bat Conservation International. She double-majored in Wildlife Conservation and Entomology from the University of Delaware and received her MS in Wildlife Ecology from the Cesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She has over 10 years of experience working as a wildlife biologist and running environmentally-focused volunteer, outreach, and education programs.
